Newmarket Racecourses

Newmarket Racecourses is the Home of Horseracing. It is the town where horse racing, the "sport of kings", was born some three and a half centuries ago and from where it was exported around the world.

There is no finer place to enjoy the excitement and sheer beauty of a day at the races than at Newmarket Racecourses. From the oldest race in history to the 21st Century, Newmarket hosts some of the world's top thoroughbred racing including the Guineas festival in May, the Moet and Chandon July Festival in high summer and the Future Champions' Day in October.

Newmarket Racecourses is the only racecourse in the UK to have two courses; The Rowley Mile and The July Course. The Rowley Mile is used in the Spring and the Autumn and the Course has a 1 mile 2 furlong straight with minor undulations. The penultimate furlong is downhill and the last is uphill, forming 'The Dip'.  Races beyond the distance of 1m 2f start on the 'Cesarewitch' or 'Beacon' course.

The July Course, which is used in the summer has a one mile straight.

Whether you come to the big racing festivals, the summer Friday evening 'Newmarket Nights' which feature the highly popular post-racing concerts, or to any of the 38 race days between April and November, we are sure you will want to return again and again!
