Love Newmarket

BID Manager & Town Ranger

Paul Brown
BID Manager

Paul owns a luxury retail and manufacturing company in Suffolk which he founded back in 2009. He was a former director of Our Bury St Edmunds BID which has given him invaluable experience of how the organisation can be a huge benefit to town centres when run successfully. This knowledge coupled with operating his own business for 10 years places him in good stead to take Love Newmarket forward.

In his spare time he enjoys playing pool, walking and going to the gym.

Ed Vince
Town Ambassador

Ed Vince came to us in February 2017, having previously been the Security Manager for the Cornhill Walk Shopping Centre in Bury St Edmunds, and before that, a manager in retail.

Ed's role is to be the visible presence in the town, offering tourists help and advice on where to go and what to see, as well as keeping our streets clean & tidy and engaging with our members.

Board of Directors

Amanda Elvidge
Independent Retail
Studio Scribbles

"During my time running Studio Scribbles I have seen lots of changes in the town. I believe that the Love Newmarket BID is an opportunity for us all to work together and bring about positive change for the future of our town. I look forward to working with other members to put on town wide events and welcome new businesses into our community."

Anne-Marie Hogan
Entertainment and Leisure
National Horseracing Museum

"As the director of the National Horseracing Museum, I have a vested interest in the revival of the town of Newmarket.  I was born in Bury St Edmunds and having worked in Newmarket within the bloodstock industry since the early 90s, I have seen how much Newmarket has suffered over the past ten to fifteen years, while neighbouring towns like Bury St Edmunds, who have a strong BID presence, have thrived.  For the Museum to flourish we need a more vibrant, attractive town centre to support those visitors we aim to attract, I believe a successful BID will be key."

Christopher Ogston
National Retailer
Jockey Club
General Manager

“In my business it’s all about the guest experience, which is why we are always training and developing the team. I always say we are only as good as our last service so we have to be on top all of the time, it’s no good being the best last week! For many of us the guest experience starts on the High Street, and so being on the board of Love Newmarket means I have the opportunity and pleasure to assist those making a positive difference for Newmarket.”

Ben Pym
Independent Retail
Corney & Barrow
General Manager
"Established in 1780, Corney & Barrow are Royal Warrant Holders and have had a retail presence in Newmarket since 1993, situated on the corner of Rous Road and the High Street. During my first stint in Newmarket for Corney & Barrow as Shop Manager from 2005 to 2011, I was involved with the Retailers Association that pre dated the BID. On my return to Newmarket in 2018, as General Manager, the BID was already established and I was keen to continue this partnership. I am also involved with the Food & Drink Festival in the town."
John Morrey
Managing Director UK & Ireland

"Love Newmarket has achieved so much since its formation back in 2016 and I look forward to working with Paul and our board of directors in building an even better town."

Steve Elsom
Number 4 Consulting Limited

"I'm extremely proud to be the current Chairman for Newmarket BID. The BID provides a framework for the prosperity of the town, and if we can work together and support each other, we give ourselves a chance to ‘make a difference’. I am very keen to work with business to ‘make things happen’ and help create a positive future for our town."

Talbot Considine

Lesley Ferguson

"I have been an Independant Business owner in Newmarket for over 20 years and believe the town is full of wonderful Independant businesses. I was happy to be a Director on the Love Newmarket Board so that I could be a voice for those businesses."

Steve Cox
Independant Retail
Premier Travel
Sales Manager

"I am delighted to be a Director of Love Newmarket as we are a family owned Independent travel agency and have been in Newmarket for over 20 years. We see the benefits the BID’s give to towns like Newmarket which has been especially important with the Coronavirus Pandemic this year and for the future as we rebuild the high street.

Being part of the team of Directors gives me an opportunity to help shape the future high street in Newmarket for all to benefit and I would recommend all business’s to take up the opportunities available to you."

Noel Byrne
Food, Drink and Public Houses
The Bedford Lodge Hotel & Spa
Chief Executive Officer

"BID to me is crucial for the town of Newmarket. It is the extraordinary investment that makes the difference for the town, but in particular the member businesss. We all pay towards the BID, and all have a vested interest in the ongoing vital growth and development of the High Street and all the businesss either in it, or attached to it. I am proud to say I am a Director of Love Newmarket."

Cllr Susan Glossop
Local Authority
West Suffolk Council
Cabinet Member

“Our town centres are important places of economic, social and cultural activity. While high streets nationally are facing a time of great challenge and change, we are working with partners to ensure they continue to be places where people live and work, shop and visit. I believe that the Newmarket Business Improvement District has an important role to play helping drive the economic recovery of the town centre for the long-term benefit of the businesses based here and that is why I am delighted to be on the board of directors.”

Andy Drummond
Local Authority
Newmarket Town Council

“As a town councillor and county councillor I was a part of the team who helped set up Love Newmarket BID back in 2016. Over the last five years the organisation has worked closely with the town council on joint projects like the Christmas lights and Saturday pop-up market events. Next year will prove a very challenging year and Love Newmarket will be at the forefront of driving footfall back to the town and revitalise the shopping experience so that customers come back.”
